The Clarendon College
The Clarendon College is a Specialist Language Centre offering 4 languages at GCSE and a core of French, German, Spanish and Italian at AS and A2 although it is also possible to enter for AS and A2 qualifications in Polish and Russian. Further language study is conducted via community classes with a focus on conversation, for example Mandarin Chinese and Arabic. The College is committed to developing global citizenship and, as well as having exchanges with schools in France, Germany and Italy and offering work experience in Europe, the College has links with schools in Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and mainland China.
The Clarendon College is the leading school in the West Wiltshire Federation of Schools and works in close partnership with The John of Gaunt School in Trowbridge and Matravers School in Westbury, enabling us to offer 46 post 16 courses at The Trowbridge Sixth Form Centre. The College regards itself as an integral member of the local community with students playing an important role in the Trowbridge Youth Forum; Sixth Form students undertaking a Community Action programme in Year 12; and the Headteacher being the Chairperson of 'Trowbridge Area Futures' - the community planning partnership.
The Clarendon College has gained a number of awards, including the School Achievement Award, Basic Skills Agency Award for Developing Effective Practice and Investor in People award. We have also been awarded Artsmark, Sportsmark and Healthy Schools status.
The John of Gaunt School
The John of Gaunt School is a Specialist Science, Mathematics and Computing College (the first dual status Secondary School in Wiltshire) and is a member of the Specialist Schools Trust. We have also achieved the Investor in People Award, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, the Sport England Award, Healthy Schools status, The FA Charter Standard Award and the FMSIS Award, which is for financial management standards in schools.
Our Specialist Schools Status in Science, Mathematics and Computing allows us to quite literally open doors to learning. Family, community and e-learning opportunities extend the boundaries of the regular school day. We enjoy working closely with Clarendon College, offering 46 post-16 courses between us. We are committed to our students not only achieving academic excellence but also to developing their personal qualities and skills through participation in a broad range of activities.
Our programme provides students with the opportunity to develop a range of key skills through involvement with the school and local communities. Many will take the chance to work closely with business and industry while others will choose to work to improve and provide opportunities for others. Our programme is flexible and can be arranged to fit each student's personal requirements.
