Content
An A Level in Applied Science
- supports and complements other programmes of advanced level study;
- prepares students for further study in a science or science-related subject or for training in a science-related occupation;
- enables the appreciation and evaluation of the social, economic and environmental impact that science work has on society, identifying ethical issues that may arise;
- provides opportunities to develop appropriate skills, knowledge and understanding and apply these where science is used.
Entry
You will need at least 5 A*-C GCSEs. You should have a minimum of grade C in Science, Double or Applied or separate sciences.
Attendance
One year to AS plus one further year to complete the full A Level.
Assessment
This is through a combination of exam board assessed and centre assessed coursework and examinations.
Moving on
This course will prepare students for a career in the science industry or industries that use scientific knowledge and skills. It will also prepare them to take on learning and training in Further and Higher Education. The types of courses include, for example, many science and paramedical degrees. It should be remembered that taking a GCE in a science subject does not limit students to following science courses later on.
