This subject offers you the opportunity to combine a theoretical understanding of the mass media in society and methods for analysing media texts (eg television programmes, films, advertising and the press) with the development of practical skills for media production. The balance of theory and practical work means that you will learn about how media industries operate research and investigate issues and debates about the role of the media in society, analyse texts from a variety of media, and produce texts of your own.

You will have access to our own Radio Station (JOGON! Community Radio) with sophisticated audio editing; our moving image software is similar to the one used by professionals and we have high quality print facility.
Entry
5 A*-C to C GCSE.
Assessment
Examination and practical production work, with accompanying written coursework.
Moving on
A number of students have gone on to study Media/Film and Journalism courses at degree level and this course is an ideal foundation for working in all areas of the media industry.
