Skills based workshop in individual art forms, a short piece in each art form (drama, dance, music), a longer piece that combines elements of all three art forms to be performed in a community venue. The study of two practitioners from different art forms. The study of extracts from all three art forms on one of the following: Post-Modern Approaches to the Performing Arts since 1960; Politics and Performance since 1914; The Twentieth Century American Musical; or Approaches to Performance in the Far East.

Entry

You will need at least 5 A*-C GCSEs.

Attendance

One year to AS, then one further year to complete the full A Level.

Assessment

The AS award comprises a written commentary, a community performance and two examination essays. The A2 course includes a written essay for examination on a topic of your choice, together with a practical exam by a visiting examiner.

Moving on

With a qualification in Performance Studies you could go on to Higher Education for work in the Performance Industry, Teaching, Arts Administration, or any career demanding a high level of communication skills.

This subject goes well with Drama and Theatre Studies, Media Studies and any subject from the Arts or Humanities.
