If you have an interest in sports performers and how they perform successfully, this course is for you. You will study the anatomy of the body and how exercise affects us. You will develop an understanding of the mental processes in learning skills and how elite performers prepare themselves for competition. You will also develop your own sporting performance and ability to analyse your effectiveness.

Special Features

Students will have access to a wide variety of practical opportunities. Sophisticated video analysis software will be used to analyse performance. Students will be encouraged to participate in competitive sport both in and out of school.

Entry

You will need at least 5 A*-C GCSEs with a C grade in PE GCSE being preferable.

Attendance

It takes one year to complete AS plus one year to complete the full A Level. Full attendance is vital for success on the course.

Assessment

A combination of end of year exams and coursework. Coursework is based on practical performance and written coursework aiming to analyse and improve performance.

Moving on

The Sports and Leisure industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Some students continue studies in Sports Science, Sports Development, Sports Management or Sports Engineering. Others choose to follow a more vocational pathway including Sports Coaching, Sports Therapy and leisure operators.
