The course is designed for those students with an interest in the 'big' questions' and who are prepared to think beyond the immediate and superficial. Topics covered will include moral and ethical issues; tolerance in liberal societies; the value of art; and an exploration of why we should be governed.
Special Features
Students will gain a thorough grounding in key philosophical concepts, themes, texts and techniques as well as developing a wide range of transferable skills which can be applied beyond the study of Philosophy.
Entry
You will need 5 A* - C at GCSE level.
Attendance
One year to AS Level plus one further year to complete the full A Level.
Assessment
AS Level:
Unit 1: An Introduction to Philosophy 1 - 1 hr 30 mins.
Unit 2: An Introduction to Philosophy 2 - 1 hr 30 mins.
Two written examinations.
Moving on
A Level Philosophy is highly regarded as a qualification for university entry and the world of work. It is particularly valuable for those who want to study Law, History, Cultural Studies, Maths and Art History.
