This course is designed to develop skills as much as knowledge. You will learn how to make aspirin and determine yields. Wine making and the brewing industry are also featured. The ability to research using a variety of resources is vital. After completing a range of projects this will enable you to work and train in Science related jobs and courses. It is especially recommended for nursing.
Special Features
The course involves much practical work. Visits to Science based organisations are an integral part. You will also complete fieldwork in a number of environments and get a good understanding of the impacts of industry in the local area.
Entry
C grades in; Science, Maths and English.
Attendance
Full time for 2 years.
Assessment
Two thirds through portfolio work and one third by terminal examination in June.
Moving on
This is a good preparation for; nursing, health related jobs and the sports/leisure industry.
