The Travel and Tourism industry is one of the fastest growing industries today. This qualification will provide a broad background to the industry whether you wish to follow a career in Travel or you simply find it interesting!
The philosophy of 'Applied' subjects is that, in order to understand the nature of the Travel and Tourism industry, you must actively experience the Travel and Tourism environment. This is achieved through work experience, work shadowing links with local employers, case studies, research and trips abroad.
Special Features
You will have the opportunity to visit a variety of Travel and Tourism organisations, e.g. Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Hilton Hotel, Madame Tussauds and Bristol Airport. Overseas residential visits occur annually, e.g. Rome and New York. You will have access to the Business/Enterprise computer suite for the completion of your portfolios.

5 A* - C GCSEs are advisable with a C grade in English being essential.
Attendance
Year 12 - A/S
Year 13 - A/2
Assessment
2 Portfolios and one external examination in Year 12 and in Year 13.
Year 12 - Travel Destinations/Customer Service/Inside Travel&Tourism.
Year 13 - Current Issues/Travel&Tourism Project/Travel&Tourism People and Quality.
Moving on
This course will enable you to progress to Further or Higher Education training or employment in the Travel industry or any related industry such as Hotel management, Catering, Leisure or Business.
