This course is designed to give students a thorough grounding in the analysis and understanding of cultural products and different cultural practices. You will learn definitions of culture and study the relationship between culture and concepts of 'value'. From this basis, students will move to consider the rationales for capitalism, globalisation and consumerism - and will combine these in a close study of a cultural 'site' like 'spaces and places' or 'objects of desire'.
Special Features
AS Communication and Culture studies the construction and maintenance of our personal and social identities the whole of human experience can be drawn upon. At AS and A2 students can 'self direct' their interests for major personal studies .
Entry
You will need 5 A* - C GCSEs.
Attendance
1 year to AS and another year to A2 Level.
Assessment
Through a combination of coursework and external examinations.
Moving on
Communication skills are sought after in every business and industry. Research and Development, Marketing and Management are 3 areas it would be easier to excel in with hard evidence of A Level standard communication skills.
